About LJA Custom Builders

My interest in the construction business began in 1999 as I worked and assisted my father in law, a general contractor, with various bathroom and kitchen renovations as well as new residential and commercial construction. In that time I found myself making connections with subcontractors and really understanding the process. My involvement and excitement grew and I knew it was time to venture in my own business, LJA Custom Builders. 

From foundation work to finished product it was a process I felt very comfortable with. With the true understanding that a blue print was the very starting point to a puzzle I could truly figure out and have fun along the way. 

The project that started the ball rolling was a stray lot in the backyard of a home I grew up in. This lot touched and at one time in life was part of the home I grew up in. The lot had been sold to the neighbor back in the early 50’s before my parents purchased it. This odd lot that was being used as a side yard for a neighbor in their everyday life was now for sale. 

The process was interesting and challenging at the same time. Based on research threw the local township I had to have the land re-zoned to fit a small single family dwelling. With the full understanding that the process was not an easy one I definitely was ready for the challenge.

That single family home was then designed, rezoned and built with the help and encouragement of my dad who helped financially and with a positive attitude. Going to school as I called it was a process that was priceless. From the start of the foundation to the final Certificate of Occupancy I learned what to do and what not to do. It truly was the one of the best experiences of my life. I felt comfortable and could see the process and what direction it should go in.

Vision has always been a strong point in my life. I could see ahead to what a finished project should look like off of any blue print or drawing. I also have the ability to help others understand and see it too. Helping clients feel confident about the decisions they are making with design and layout is a gift that I am fortunate to have. 

With the support of family and clients I have been able to construct over 50+ homes in my career and hope to continue with helping clients achieve building their dream home.
